About This Opportunity

The CirculaRise Accelerator, run by the Yunus Environment Hub, supports growth-stage social businesses in Kenya to develop and scale inclusive circular economy solutions. The programme guides entrepreneurs in bridging the gap between economic viability, environmental responsibility, and social impact — helping them implement validated circular business models. Cohort 2 is now open, supported by the Employment Promotion for Women for the Green Transformation in Africa (WE4D) programme, funded by the German government and the IKEA Foundation, and implemented by GIZ. The accelerator runs as a six-month hybrid programme combining in-person and virtual coaching, with a strong emphasis on advancing women's economic participation and leadership.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Growth-stage social business operating in Kenya with a circular economy focus or readiness to integrate circular principles
  • Must assign two representatives, typically founders or CEOs, to participate
  • At least one representative must be directly involved in strategic decision-making
  • Particular focus on businesses advancing women's economic participation and leadership

    • Be specific about how your business already incorporates — or plans to incorporate — circular economy principles. Vague sustainability claims will not stand out in a competitive pool.
    • This cohort places particular emphasis on women's economic participation. If your business is women-led or women-founded, make this clear in your application.
    • Assign your most strategically involved team member as one of your two required representatives — the programme expects decision-makers at the table, not just operational staff.
